Each bird displays the species’ characteristic black head and neck, contrasted sharply by a distinctive white 'chinstrap' that extends across the throat and cheeks. Their bodies are a blend of pale brown and grey, providing excellent camouflage when grazing on open land, with white patches visible on their rumps.
