YouTube Timestamp is a Chrome extension for YouTube bookmarks: it saves the precise second, not a chapter list or timestamp links for videos you publish. Keep and search your saved bookmarks offline on this device with no account. Local bookmarks are unlimited. Optional Google sign-in syncs your library to the web dashboard (youtubetimestamp.com) and other browsers. Free cloud sync covers 100 timestamps. Pro unlocks unlimited cloud sync and folders on the web. New: AI video summaries (beta). Choose AI summary for a saved video in the extension, then read an overview and timestamped sections on youtubetimestamp.com. Jump to a useful section or save it as a timestamp in your archive. An account and internet connection are required. The extension helps prepare captions through the video's YouTube player when needed. Opening the summary preparation page does not generate a summary or use an unlock; you choose Generate summary or Unlock summary on the website. AI summaries can contain mistakes. Check the linked video moments for context. How to Use: 1. Watch a YouTube video. 2. Press B, or click the bookmark icon near the player controls. 3. Add optional tags and a short note, then save. 4. Open the toolbar popup to search, filter by tag, or jump to a moment. 5. Optional: sign in to back up your library, sync other browsers, and use the web dashboard. 6. Optional: choose AI summary for a saved video. If prompted, open that video on YouTube to prepare captions. Older saves do not require another timestamp. On the website, review your allowance and choose Generate summary or Unlock summary. 7. Optional: upgrade to Pro from the account menu when you need unlimited cloud sync, web folders, or a monthly AI summary allowance. Watching YouTube videos, cloud sync, and AI summaries require an internet connection. • When you connect an account, your local timestamps are merged with your cloud library. Above the Free sync limit, new saves stay on this device until you free up space or upgrade. • The extension stores account session credentials and a minimal profile locally. Disconnecting removes those credentials and revokes the extension session. • While signed in, saving a timestamp or choosing AI summary can upload that video's available captions to a shared server cache when transcript capture is enabled. Capture happens through YouTube's player on your device. It may briefly enable captions to load them and then restore the previous setting for that video. • You can turn transcript capture off in the extension account menu. Captions already stored on the server remain available. Deleting a timestamp or account does not delete shared captions or summaries. • When you explicitly request a summary that needs generation, our backend sends caption text, segment indexes, caption language, and video duration to Google's Gemini models through Google Cloud Vertex AI. It does not send your private notes, tags, folders, email, or account profile in those generation requests. • We use saved video information to provide your library and summaries. We do not collect your general browsing or YouTube watch history, sell your data, or use it for advertising. • Optional technical error reporting uses Sentry through our backend. Reports may include an installation or account identifier, but exclude notes, tags, video titles, watch URLs, captions, and authentication tokens. You can turn reporting off in the account menu after signing in. The extension has no product-analytics SDK or session replay. • Pro billing uses Dodo Payments on a hosted checkout page. We do not receive or store card numbers. • YouTube access supports the bookmark controls and video metadata. While signed in, it also supports caption preparation when you save a timestamp or choose AI summary. • The storage permission keeps your local library, account session, and preferences on this device. • The identity permission is used only for the optional account connection flow. • The alarms permission supports background sync and caption-upload retries while signed in. • API calls to our backend use an allowlisted extension origin; no separate backend host permission is requested. • UI fonts load from Google Fonts when you open the popup or use the on-page save UI. • The popup may load video thumbnails from YouTube's CDN (i.ytimg.com). • The Feedback button opens a Tally form only when you click it.
