Gentle pause before social media to help you breathe and choose with intention. # Mindful Media — Gentle Pause for Social Media A gentle pause before you scroll. Mindful Media adds a brief, calming moment when you open social sites — so you can notice the habit and choose what to do next. Instead of blocking you outright, it shows: - how many times you've visited today - a soft 4-4-4 breathing guide (inhale 4s, hold 4s, exhale 4s) - a simple choice: take a breath, then continue or close the tab It's designed to help you stay focused without shame. ### How it works 1. You open a social site you've chosen to be mindful about 2. A quiet overlay appears with your daily count 3. Breathe for 12 seconds if you want to 4. Continue if it's intentional, or close the tab Counts reset at midnight. No history is kept. Everything is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage. ### Customize - Choose which sites show the gentle pause - Set an optional cool-down (so you don't see it on every single tab) - Pick your own reminder message - Three calm themes: Sage, Dawn, and Evening - Respects reduced-motion settings ### Privacy-first No tracking. No analytics. No server. No account needed. Your counts never leave your device. Only the `storage` permission is used. ### Who it's for If you open your browser to work and end up scrolling without meaning to, Mindful Media is a small nudge back to intention. It's helpful for students, remote work, ADHD-friendly routines, and anyone building more intentional browsing habits. ### What's in v1.1 - Calm paper texture and slow gradient to feel gentle, not distracting - Encouraging language that changes as you visit more - Live preview in options - Presentations toggle to temporarily pause reminders Built with care in Lynnwood, WA. Free to use. Support: peblestudio@gmail.com Mindful Media is an independent tool to support intentional browsing and is not affiliated with any social media company.
