Generate secure random passwords locally in Chrome using Web Crypto. No network requests, no storage, no analytics. PwdGen is a lightweight, privacy-first password generator for Chrome. It helps you create secure random passwords directly inside the browser extension popup, without opening a separate website or sending anything to a server. PwdGen uses the browser Web Crypto API, including crypto.getRandomValues(), to generate random passwords locally on your device. Generated passwords are not uploaded, logged, analyzed, stored, or sent through analytics. The extension does not make network requests and does not require permission to read or modify webpages. Key features: • Generate secure random passwords in one click • Choose password length • Include or exclude lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols • Exclude similar characters such as 0/O/o and 1/I/l for easier reading • View a simple theoretical entropy estimate in bits • Copy the generated password to your clipboard • Works offline inside the Chrome extension popup PwdGen is designed for everyday password creation, testing password rules, and quickly generating unique credentials for online accounts. For best security, use a different password for every account, store generated passwords in a trusted password manager, and enable MFA or passkeys where available. Privacy and permissions: PwdGen only requests the clipboardWrite permission so you can copy a generated password after clicking the Copy button. The extension does not request host permissions, does not read your browsing history, does not inspect webpages, and does not collect personal data. The full web version is available at https://pwdgen.xyz for additional tools such as passphrase generation, PIN generation, password strength checking, UUID generation, hash utilities, and developer tools.
