Description
Share a room code and the same video plays at the same second on every computer. In-room chat included, on any site. The same video, at the same second, on separate computers. One of you creates a room and shares an 8-character code; the other joins with it. The video starts, pauses and seeks at the same moment on both sides, and you can talk in the room while you watch. THREE STEPS 1. Open the side panel and create a room. You get a code like k7mq2xw4. 2. Send the code. The other person picks "Join a room" and types it in. 3. Press the purple button over the video. After a 3-second countdown both sides start from the same second. IT KEEPS ITSELF IN SYNC Every second each side reports its position. For a gap between 50 ms and 1 second the side that is behind speeds up by 2 to 5 percent — small enough that you cannot hear it. Beyond a second it seeks instead. If one side buffers for more than 700 ms, the other pauses too, and both resume together. Ads in YouTube, JW Player and Video.js players are detected: while one person is in an ad the other waits. WORKS ON ANY PAGE WITH A VIDEO It hooks the page's own HTML5 player rather than a particular service, and finds players inside iframes and shadow DOM. YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, news sites and corporate players all work, and so do Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video: the extension touches the play, pause and seek controls, never the protected stream. CHAT, EVEN IN FULLSCREEN Messages appear over the video for 6 seconds when the panel is closed, and as a Chrome notification if you are on another tab. WHAT WE DO NOT SEE The video never passes through our server — everyone watches it in their own browser, with their own account. Only small JSON messages travel: position, play/pause, chat. Chat text is never stored on the server. There is no record of who watched what, and a room is deleted from memory when the last person leaves. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking code. ACCOUNT AND PRICING Joining a room is free: an e-mail address and a password are enough. Opening a room needs a subscription, and one subscription covers the whole room — up to 5 people, so a movie night needs one subscriber, not five. New accounts get a 7-day trial, we do not ask for a card, and it never turns into a charge on its own. When access ends you can still join rooms other people open. REQUIREMENTS Chrome 116 or newer is required. Edge, Brave and Opera are expected to work but have not been verified. Firefox and Safari are not supported.
