Description
Block distracting sites (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok by default) and stop doom scrolling on YouTube. Focus Guard helps you stay on task by blocking distracting websites and stripping YouTube of the features designed to keep you scrolling. SITE BLOCKING • Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are blocked out of the box • Add or remove any site from the popup — your list syncs across your Chrome profile • Blocked sites redirect to a calm "stay focused" reminder page instead of loading • Need a site temporarily? Unlock it for a configurable amount of time (default 5 minutes), then it re-blocks automatically — even reloading any open tabs YOUTUBE FOCUS MODE Turn off the features built to maximize your watch time: • Hide Shorts (shelves, sidebar link, and search results) • Hide the home feed (replaced with a gentle nudge to search intentionally) • Hide sidebar recommendations, end-screen suggestions, and autoplay-next • Hide comments • "Allowed channels only" mode — build a list of channels (e.g. educational creators) and Focus Guard hides every other video in feeds, search, and the sidebar, and blocks watch pages for non-allowed channels with a "watch anyway" override SETTINGS • Customize how long an "Unlock" lasts • Export your settings to a JSON file and restore them later • One-click reset to defaults PRIVACY Focus Guard runs entirely on your device. All settings (block list, YouTube preferences, allowed channels) are stored in your Chrome profile via chrome.storage. Nothing is collected, transmitted, or sold.
