Save web knowledge to your private local memory vault TenetVault is a privacy-first knowledge management tool for developers. This browser extension lets you: • Capture web content — Select text on any page and save it to your local TenetVault memory vault • Tag and organize — Add tags and assign memories to projects for easy retrieval • Encrypted-vault first — Captures fail closed when TenetVault is offline or locked; selected text is never persisted in a plaintext browser queue • 100% local — All runtime data stays on your machine. No cloud account, analytics, telemetry, or tracking How it works 1. Install the verified standalone TenetVault archive for your platform using its separately published SHA-256; it includes Node and native dependencies and does not use sudo or global npm 2. Run durable setup: tenetvault setup all (on macOS this installs the per-user login service) 3. Open the extension, copy and approve its one-time pairing command in Terminal; the popup detects approval automatically, then unlock your Vault 4. Select text on any web page 5. Click the TenetVault icon to save it to your inbox Requirements • TenetVault local service configured with tenetvault setup all; existing setups can recover a stopped service with tenetvault start • The standalone release is the ordinary-user path; npm/npx is an advanced developer fallback with a read-only cache, prefix, ownership, and PATH preflight • macOS uses a persistent per-user login service; Windows and Linux currently use a session daemon and require tenetvault start after login or reboot • Explicit one-time browser pairing with capture and project-list scopes; authorization can be revoked from the extension or CLI • Works with Chrome, Brave, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers Privacy This extension communicates only with the TenetVault service at http://127.0.0.1:7842. It does not send captured content to a developer-operated external server. When the service is unavailable, incompatible, unpaired, or locked, page content is not read or queued for later upload.
