Check any saffron shop or listing for the signs of real, high-grade saffron, and learn the tests, grades, and fair prices. Saffron is the most counterfeited spice in the world. Safflower, dyed corn silk, turmeric powder and honey-weighted threads all sell as the real thing, and by the time a jar reaches your kitchen the packaging tells you nothing. Saffron Guardian reads the page you are on and tells you how much evidence there is behind the claim. WHAT YOU GET • A 0 to 100 score with a letter grade, built from 18 weighted trust markers across provenance, quality specification, verification, seller trust, and form and weight. • Every marker explains itself. Tap one and it tells you why it matters and quotes the exact sentence on the page that triggered it. • Ten fraud patterns detected and explained: prices below what saffron costs to grow, powder-only listings, dye and filler words, instant-red promises, cure claims, vague origin, manufactured scarcity. • Real price intelligence. The extension works out a price per gram even when the listing never states one, by pairing prices with weights in the page text and in the structured product data, converting units and currencies, then judging it against what saffron actually costs to produce. • An optional on-page card. Turn it on for a shop you use and the score follows you while you browse, with a badge on the toolbar icon. Exportable to JSON. PRIVACY Nothing leaves your browser. No network requests, no analytics, no accounts, no remote code. The page text is read in memory to work out a score and then discarded. Saved checks and settings stay in local storage on your device. By default the extension can only read a page at the moment you click its icon. Automatic checking is off until you switch it on for a specific site, one site at a time. HONEST LIMITS This is a buyer's guide, not lab certification. It reads what a page claims. A careful fraudster can write a careful page, so treat a high score as a reason to proceed with confidence rather than a guarantee, and always run the bloom test when the jar arrives.
