Open the PDF you are looking at in any OxygenPDF tool, without downloading it first. Open the PDF you are already looking at in any OxygenPDF tool, without downloading it and uploading it again. WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES When you click it, the extension reads the address of the tab you are on, fetches that PDF using your own browser session, holds the bytes in your browser's own storage, and hands them straight to a new OxygenPDF tab. The file is already loaded by the time the tool opens. It is never saved to your disk, and it never reaches a server — ours or anyone else's. That is the whole point of it. A PDF that only exists for your signed-in session, or an inline preview with no download button, is normally a three-step detour: download it, find it in your downloads folder, upload it again. The extension does the fetching itself, with the session you already have, and moves the bytes across in one step. IN THE POPUP Every OxygenPDF tool that accepts a PDF, searchable as you type. Pin the ones you reach for and they stay at the top, stored on this machine. There is also an item in the right-click menu and a keyboard shortcut, Alt+Shift+O. WHAT IT READS The address of the tab you used it on, and the PDF at that address. Nothing else on the page, and nothing until you ask for it. WHERE THE FILE GOES Into your browser's own storage for the few seconds it takes to reach the OxygenPDF tab, then it is deleted. Anything a handover leaves behind is cleared within ten minutes. WHAT IT COLLECTS Nothing. No analytics, no counters, no account, no error reporting. The extension makes no request to us at any point. WHAT IT NEVER DOES It does not run on pages you have not used it on, and it never reads what you are browsing. PERMISSIONS, AND WHY EACH ONE IS ASKED FOR - activeTab — read the address of the tab you used it on, so it knows which PDF you mean - scripting — look for a PDF on that page, and show the result there - storage — hold the PDF for the seconds it takes to cross, and remember the tools you pin - contextMenus — add one item to the right-click menu - alarms — delete anything left behind if a handover never completes - offscreen — do the fetching in a document Chrome will not shut down part way through a large transfer There are no site permissions at install, so the install prompt names no site. Access to a particular site is requested at the moment it is needed, and the request names the site it is asking about; turning it down leaves everything as it was. Opening a PDF that is already on your machine needs Chrome's own file-access switch, which is off by default and can only be turned on by you: chrome://extensions, OxygenPDF, Details, "Allow access to file URLs".
