Customize the background and text colors used when selecting text on web pages. Selection Accent is a Chrome extension that lets you customize the background and text colors shown when selecting text on web pages. No CSS knowledge is required. Simply choose a preset or custom color to make text selection easier to see and better suited to your preferred appearance. The interface automatically follows Chrome's display language, so there is no separate language setting inside Selection Accent. If Chrome is using an unsupported language, Selection Accent falls back to English as its default language. All translation files are included locally in the extension package. Selection Accent does not send text or other information to an external translation service or translation API. Chrome Sync Color and appearance syncing is enabled by default. When Chrome Sync is available, Selection Accent uses Chrome's built-in `chrome.storage.sync` system to share supported appearance settings between Chrome installations using the same Google Account. You can turn syncing off at any time from the Selection Accent settings page. Selection Accent syncs only color and appearance settings. The following are not synced: ・Per-site disable settings ・Website origins or URLs ・The extension's global enabled or disabled state ・Page content ・Selected text ・Form input ・Google Account information Selection Accent does not use a developer-operated server for synchronization. How to Use 1. Open Selection Accent from the Chrome toolbar. 2. Choose a preset or custom selection color. 3. Open the settings page to adjust appearance mode, automatic text color, custom Light and Dark colors, and Chrome Sync. Changes are applied to supported web pages without requiring you to write CSS. Privacy Selection Accent is designed to process only the settings required for its features. It does not collect, store, sync, or send: ・Web page text ・Text you select ・Form input ・Passwords ・Cookies ・Google Account information ・Browsing history as a list of visited pages If you disable Selection Accent for a specific site, only that site's origin is stored locally in `chrome.storage.local` so that the site-specific preference can be remembered. Per-site disable settings are not synchronized between devices and are not sent to the developer. When Chrome Sync is enabled, only allowlisted color and appearance settings are stored using Chrome's standard `chrome.storage.sync` mechanism. Selection Accent does not use: ・Advertising ・Telemetry ・Usage analytics ・Tracking ・Developer-operated servers ・External translation services ・Remote code Supported Content Selection Accent works with supported text on standard web pages, including: ・Regular HTML text ・Input fields ・Text areas ・Editable text areas using `contenteditable` ・Supported iframes Limitations Some pages cannot be modified because of browser restrictions or because their text is rendered using technologies that do not expose normal text selection styling. Examples include: ・Chrome internal pages ・The Chrome Web Store ・Text inside Chrome's built-in PDF viewer ・Google Docs and some other applications that use Canvas or custom text rendering These limitations come from the browser or the way the page renders its content rather than from Selection Accent's color settings.
