A second read on the article you're on: a TL;DR, the rhetorical techniques with the words marked, who's quoted and what's missing. A second read on the article you're on. Open any article and click the Semblen icon (or press Alt+Shift+S). A side panel sums the article up and answers a few questions about it: - TL;DR: the article in two or three points. - How is it written? The paragraphs that use a rhetorical technique (loaded language, name calling, appeal to fear, exaggeration and others), with the exact words marked and each one explained in a sentence. Click "Show on page" to jump to the paragraph. - Who gets to speak? Who the article quotes. - Do the claims hold up? Press "Check the claims" to check its factual claims against outside sources. - What's missing? Background the story leaves out. - How did others cover it? How many other outlets covered the same story; with Semblen Pro, the angles they took that this article didn't, and questions worth asking. Pin the icon so it stays in your toolbar. - Works on the page you already have open, including sites you subscribe to. - Select a passage first to check only that passage. - Language inside a quotation is reported as the speaker's, not the outlet's. - It does not rate outlets, and it does not tell you what to conclude. It describes the article; you decide what to make of it. Free: 5 new pages a day. Pages someone has already checked that day don't count. Semblen Pro adds the full comparison with other outlets, the deeper read of each article and a daily digest, free for 14 days. Privacy: nothing is read until you click the icon. Then the article's text and title are sent to semblen.com for analysis. Your browsing history is never sent. For a whole article, the page's address is also sent, to compare it with other outlets' coverage of the same story; the comparison is saved under a one-way code of the address, not the address itself. The address also goes with "Check the claims", so the article isn't used as evidence for itself, and is not stored. The full text is not kept. https://semblen.com/privacy Semblen is made by Semblen LLC in Austin, Texas. The same analysis runs on semblen.com, along with today's analyzed news and an index of political ads.small
