Turn any YouTube video into structured notes with clickable timestamps. DogEar reads a video's transcript and writes the notes you would have taken if you'd been paying attention the whole time. Open any YouTube video that has captions, click the DogEar button in the row under the video, and in about fifteen seconds you get: • A three-line TL;DR of the whole video • Chapter notes — the video broken into sections, each with its own bullets, each with a timestamp • Concrete takeaways, ordered by importance Click any timestamp and the video jumps there. The notes become a way to navigate an hour-long lecture, not just a record of it. Copy to clipboard or export as Markdown for Obsidian, Notion, or wherever you keep things. Built for people who learn from video — students, researchers, people working through a course — not for people trying to avoid watching it. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO It only works on videos that have captions (most talks, lectures, tutorials, podcasts and interviews do; music and gameplay usually don't). It doesn't work on livestreams while they're live. PRIVACY No account. No tracking. The transcript is sent to our server to write the notes and is not stored; neither are the notes.
