It reads the caption track your browser can already see and writes the file to your machine. Your notes, prompts, history and settings stay in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. It does not transcribe audio — it exports the captions YouTube already has, which is why it is instant and free. A video with captions switched off has nothing to export.
